Recipe Time

Servings
10 to 12 Servings
Ingredients:
Yields one dozen
  • 1 Stick Unsalted Butter - Room Temperature
  • 1 c. Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 Tsp. Salt1 Large Egg - Room Temperature
  • 1/2 Tsp. Vanilla Extract
  • 2 1/2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 Tsp. Baking Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp. Baking Soda
  • Christmas Chocolate Candies
Step
1
In medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and baking soda. Set aside.
Step
2
In stand mixer with paddle attachment (medium speed) cream butter, sugar and salt until color lightens. At least 1 minute, you're trying to get air bubbles in there. If needed, scrape the bowl in the middle of mixing. And scrape again when you're done.
Step
3

With mixer on low, add eggs with vanilla one at a time and then increase to medium speed and mix until fully incorporated. Light and fluffy. Again, scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed and when mixing is complete.

On low speed add in flour mixture in three parts – scraping down the sides of the bowl in between additions - and mix until the dough begins to pull away from the sides.

Step
4

Shape the dough - I prefer to shape the dough into balls before chilling. Using a cookie scoop is the easiest way to make sure all the cookies are the same shape and bake evenly.

Step
5

Scoop out the dough and place on your cookie sheet (no need to space them for baking yet).

Take your Christmas Chocolate Candies and push them into the top.Once you've scooped all the dough, chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour.

And that's it for the dough! When you're ready to bake...Preheat your oven to 350F. All ovens are different so baking times and temperatures will vary. And of course, if your cookies are large they'll take longer to bake.

Step
7
Line your cookie sheets with parchment paper for best results.I always bake my cookie dough chilled, straight from the refrigerator. If you want to roll the cookies in sugar, now is the time. Arrange the cold dough on your cookie sheet to allow for spread and pop into the pre-heated oven for 15-18 minutes.
