Ditch dyed Easter eggs this spring and try adding gold leaf into the mix instead! Wooden eggs, a bit of paint, and gold leaf make for a great Easter DIY. Want to add a bit more glitz? Simply add gold foil to these eggs and you will be left with modern, beautiful eggs.
Spray paint your DIY Wonderful Wood Eggs in an assortment of colors. I tried to paint them with acrylic paint first, but that was too hard. I quickly decided spray paint would be a better option.
Apply a small amount of adhesive to the painted DIY Wonderful Wood Eggs. I used Elmer’s® Adhesive Spray.
Carefully apply Gold Foil Leaf Sheets onto adhesive. Gently, press down on the gold leaf to make sure it sticks to the egg. For this step, I recommend wearing gloves, unless you want to have gold leaf fingers too!
Using a brush, carefully brush off any extra gold leaf. If you have too much gold leaf in one area, apply a bit more pressure to remove the excess. This makes a mess. I covered an old piece of foam core with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
Place your eggs in our Easter Planter Box Centerpiece. Optional: You can seal your gold leaf with a metal leaf sealer. This will help protect the gold leaf and keep it in place.
