Kids will learn the alphabet in no time with these homemade hand print alphabet flashcards! Use your child’s hand print as a learning tool with this handprint craft idea. I just love how our flashcards turned out. We didn’t do all animals, my kids had to throw in a monster, ice cream and a few other fun ideas!
Set aside twenty-six sheets of white card stock paper. Using a paper cutter, cut each sheet of paper to a 5×7 rectangle. The larger flashcards are perfect for little hand prints. You will need twenty-six cards. Make a list of what each letter will be and decide on the color of the handprint for each card.
Separate the cards by color. Start with the first color and use the foam paint brush to paint the child’s hand. They could dip their hand in paint, however I have found that the handprints turn out much better when you apply the paint with a foam brush.
Press the hand onto each card with that color. Make sure to leave room at the bottom or top so you can write the text. Repeat this step with each set of cards. Allow cards to dry.
Arrange the colors in the order you have listed above. Begin to decorate each animal! We had fun decorating with self adhesive rhinestones, googly eyes, glitter glue, but let your kids decide their favorite way to decorate their handprint animals. Apply the foam letter in the top or bottom corner. Use a Sharpie® Marker to add detail and write the sentence.
