Pumpkin spice and everything nice, this DIY handprint Salt Dough Pumpkin is the perfect keepsake to make with your little pumpkins. It's a super simple salt dough craft that kids will love making during the fall season.
Combine 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of salt and 1/2 a cup of warm water in a medium bowl.
Knead the dough until it is well combined and smooth.
Use a rolling pin and roll out the dough until it is about 1 cm thick.
Use the pumpkin jumbo fall shape (or draw your own pumpkin shape on paper or cardstock) to cut out a salt dough pumpkin. You can also draw your own pumpkin shape on paper or cardstock to use as a guide for cutting your salt dough pumpkin.
Firmly press your child's hand into the salt dough until it leaves an impression. Set in a dry area and allow to air dry for 48-72 hours.
Paint around the handprint with orange paint.
Mix the remaining orange paint with white paint to create a slightly lighter shade and then paint the handprint with this lighter color so it stands out. Paint the steam with brown paint.
Wrap the stem with a green chenille stem to resemble the leaves and vines.
Use a black marker to write your child's name and the year on the pumpkin so you can keep it as a treasured keepsake for years to come.
