There’s something about stickers that kids just can’t get enough of. Make them big foamy soft stickers and throw in some education, and we’ve got a winner for both little ones and adults. I had some colorful construction paper on hand and thought why not just create hangable artwork using the kits? Here’s how we put them together with my little girl and her group of friends.
The kits came individually wrapped which makes things a lot easier when organizing activities for children. I let them each choose what color construction paper they wanted then they all sat around a table.
Instead of just letting them peel and stick in any order, I wanted to make the activity informative. I asked them first what a cornucopia was. Not surprisingly, none of them knew. I explained in simple terms that a cornucopia is a type of basket shaped like a horn filled with foods and symbols of fall and the harvest.
I asked them all to peel off their cornucopia sticker first, then place it on their construction paper. From there, we talked about what types of foods we wanted to put in our cornucopias: corn, pears, pumpkins, squash, apples, and other symbols of fall like leaves and nuts. They were excited when we talked about different colors of fall like orange, yellow, brown and green.It was a simple activity, but when we were done, I quizzed them on what we had just discussed and they retained it really well.
