The martini, an iconic mid-century modern cocktail. If you're planning a wedding inspired by the "Mad Men" era it's the quintessential signature cocktail. Made with a smooth gin, dry (not sweet!) vermouth, and a dash of orange bitters this martini is easy to make and easy to drink! It's important to use super-chilled glassware, so make sure you put all your glassware in the freezer ahead of time. Your guests will love this perfectly chic chilled cocktail.
- 2 1/2 oz. Gin
- 1 oz. Vermouth
- 1 Dash Orange Bitters
- Lemon Twist
- Ice
Before mixing your martini, place the glass & shaker into the freezer for at least 30 minutes to get them super-chilled glass.
Once chilled combine the gin, vermouth and orange bitters into the shaker.
Add ice and stir until well mixed & chilled, approx. 15-20 seconds and then strain into chilled glass.
Slice a lemon and remove the rind from the slice. Twirl the rind around your finger to create a lemon twist.
Add a retro drink stirrer and coaster and place the martinis on the Gold Round Plastic Serving Plate to serve your guests.
Time to toast the bride-to-be, why not go retro! A toast common in the 50s and 60s was "To the newlyweds: May for better or worse, be far better than worse"!
