Recreate iconic Pirates of Caribbean scenery with this step-by-step Pirate Backdrop tutorial. This decor is perfect for any pirate themed birthday party.

Cut the PVC into two 36-inch sections and spray paint with Gold Metallic Paint. Make sure to also spray paint the elbow fitting. Once dry, connect the two pieces with the elbow fitting.

To create two sails or “curtains” you will need to cut four pieces of Red Gossamer. Each piece will measure 36 x 24 inches. Create a hem at the top of each piece by folding over and securing with hot glue.

Cut 20 pieces of Natural Cording in 5 inch lengths. Each curtain will require 10 pieces.

Create a loop with the cording and hot glue it between the two pieces of red gossamer at the hem, wrong sides together.

Create the tattered edge by ripping the gossamer by hand.

Hang the curtain on the gold pipes and secure with hot glue.

Glue the jaw to the skull from the Bag of Bones and hot glue a pirate hat to the skull. Next, hot glue the entire skull to the elbow joint. Glue or tie the hat to the poles for extra support.

Next, glue two Pirate Swords on top of each other in an “x” shape. Thread a length of fishing line into the tiny holes at the tip of the swords and tie them to the poles behind the skull.

Secure the backdrop to the wall with Natural Jute Cording and hooks or tie directly to a large home decor piece for a Spanish effect.
