One of the best things about going to a carnival is getting to partake in taste testing all of the delicious and fun foods! From the cotton candy to the ice cream...we just don't know what we like best! We wanted to create a fun and unique carnival inspired recipe combining some of our favorite treats for our Carousel Baby Shower! This cupcake ice cream cone is full of colorful treats, topped with a sweet strawberry frosting and of course a soft fluff of cotton candy perched right on top!
- Boxed Cake Mix
- 5 C. Powdered Sugar
- 1 C. Butter
- 1 Tsp. Vanilla
- 5 Tbsp. Milk
- Ice Cream Cones
- Cotton Candy
- Red Food Coloring
- Colorful Chocolate Candies
Start by mixing up a standard boxed cupcake batter per the directions on the back of the box. Then add some colorful sprinkles to the batter for a fun surprise when your guests bite into this sweet treat!
Next, place your empty ice cream cones in a cupcake pan, standing upright. Then fill each ice cream cone about halfway full and bake per the instructions on the back of the box.
While the cones are cooling, whip up a batch of buttercream icing by mixing butter, milk and sugar. Add a few drops of red food coloring.
Place your frosting in a piping bag and frost your cupcakes with a heaping dollop of frosting.
Add a soft tuft of cotton candy to the top of your cupcake. Next, add a few color coordinating candies to add the perfect final touch!
Display your cupcake ice cream cones on trimmed, overturned carousel themed cups at your Carousel Baby Shower and enjoy!
