I loved creating a bright and happy spring or summer wreath. This jute wreath with burlap rosettes is such a fun DIY to make with friends; it’s perfect DIY for a craft night this spring or summer, what’s great is that anyone can make this and have it turn out beautiful. I just adore how the natural jute cording and bright burlap make this wreath so happy! So let’s get crafting today and I will show you the steps to make this pretty spring or summer wreath.
Begin wrapping the jute rope around the foam wreath. I added a bit of hot glue to hold the initial jute strand down.
Keep wrapping the jute rope around and around the wreath tightly. Glue down here and there with the hot glue to keep the jute rope in place.
Wrap all the way around, leaving spots open where you can’t wrap anymore around the center of the wreath. It will almost be full like the image below.
Cut individual strands of the jute rope, some about 3 or 4 inches and some 2 inches long. Using the hot glue, fill in the empty wreath spaces with the smaller jute rope pieces. Glue along the empty pieces to the back of the wreath.
Cut the colored burlap about 12-24 inches long. The longer the strips, the bigger the rosettes. I cut the blue about 12 inches long, the pink about 18 inches and the green about 22 inches long.
After cutting the length of burlap, cut that piece into 3 long pieces. This will make 3 burlap rosettes.
Add a strip of glue on each burlap piece lengthwise. Fold over lengthwis to create an even narrower strip.
Begin rolling from one end to the other to create a rosette. To create a thinner rosette just roll tight. To make a more messy and larger rosette, begin rolling from the end and after a few rolls twist the strip of burlap as you roll. I like combining the look of both rosettes.
Glue the rosettes onto the jute wreath. I like adding mine to the lower right side. Stagger the different colors and sizes of rosettes as you glue them on the wreath.
