The most iconic thing about a mermaid, is of course, her tail! When we set out to create a gorgeous backdrop for our Little Mermaid Party, we knew we wanted to pay tribute to Ariel's beautiful teal tail and purple ensemble! The best part is, this backdrop is made of basic party supplies and goes together quickly! This mermaid tail scale backdrop is so easy, inexpensive and creates a dramatic and unique effect!
Begin by lining up white plates along your wall. These plates will be the very top of your backdrop. We adhered ours with a simple loop of scotch tape! Next, start adhering the light teal paper plates in a scallop pattern below the white plates, making sure they over lap a bit of the white plates. Repeat with the darker teal colored plates.
Once you have created this teal ombré effect, add in some lavender and purple plates to complete the look.
Now it's time to create the backdrop frame. Start by trimming the center of the mermaid sparkle tablecloth into a small rectangle that will cover the inside portion of the frame. Using hot glue, adhere the tablecloth to the back of the frame.
Next, trim the mermaid from the tablecloth.
Adhere the mermaid cut-out to the center of the frame with a glue stick.
Lastly, enjoy your Little Mermaid party and fabulous backdrop!
