All kids need to get creative is a blank canvas…literally! This fun art project uses mini 4″x4″ canvases and your favorite craft supplies to make one-of-a-kind colorful works of art. From craft paint, to pom-poms, to feathers, any colorful supply will work. Just set them out with the canvases and these mini wooden easels and turn the kids loose. You’ll be amazed with what they can come up with!
Set out the craft supplies to make them easily accessible for the kids. Shallow trays work great for corralling buttons, feathers, and stickers. You may want to cover your work space with a plastic tablecloth to protect the work surface from paint and glue.
If you like, you can first paint the canvases with a coat of craft paint and a foam brush. Just let them dry completely before adding other craft supplies.
Add your favorite craft supplies with tacky glue. A hot glue gun on a low temp setting can also be used by kids under adult supervision. Hot glue works especially well to hold pipe cleaners and pom-poms in place quickly.
Decorate a mini easel to accompany your canvas art by painting it or gluing pom-poms or buttons to the front ledge.
The possibilities are endless for these mini canvases, and no two will turn out alike! They would look great grouped together on a wall or shelf.
