Calling all mermaids! Make your own sparkling Mini Ocean Bottle at a Mermaid First Birthday Party to take home with you. Small shells, purple sand, turquoise colored water, and lots of glitter are added to mini glass jars to turn them into an underwater bottle fit for any little mermaid! Just turn the bottle upside down like a snow globe and watch the glitter fall over the seashells and purple sand. It's mesmerizing!
Mix one drop of blue food coloring with a lot of water. The blue color is very strong and you want your water to be a very light blue.
Use a paper cup to pour the water into each glass bottle.
Use a craft stick to scoop some irridescent glitter and pour it into each bottle. Add as much glitter as you'd like!
Use white spray paint to paint each lid white. If this is a party activity, then you can do this step before the party.
Glue a scallop shell onto the top of each jar using a glue gun. Add hot glue to the inside of the lids, then screw on each lid so it is nice and tight and can't be opened by little hands.
Let each mermaid and merman shake their jars, then watch as the purple sand, shells, and glitter gracefully swirl back down to the bottom of the ocean jar. My daughter was obsessed with shaking her jar and watching the dancing glitter!
