How adorable is this monogram wall art! It has every color of the rainbow and since my daughter Riley loves rainbows, I wanted to surprise her with new wall art for her room that I would make myself! I started looking for supplies and found these DIY canvases that come in 8″ x 8″ and 12″ x 12″. When I saw that the masking tape is about 1″ wide, I decided on the 12″ x 12″ canvas so I could make 2 full rows of the 6 colors of the rainbow.

Using acrylic white paint, start painting the edges of the wood letter. Continue to paint the front of the letter with 2 coats until fully covered.

Using the 6 colors of the colored masking tape set (red-orange-yellow-green-blue-purple), begin to cover the canvas. Starting with the red masking tape, place it at the very bottom edge of the canvas and press down to secure. Be sure to leave a little bit extra on each side so that you can wrap the excess tape around the canvas. Continue to do this with each color in the order of the rainbow until the entire canvas is covered in a rainbow pattern.

Using E6000® craft adhesive glue squeeze a line of the glue on the back of the letter. Then place the letter on to the center of the canvas and press to secure. Wait 24 hours before holding your canvas upright so that glue has time to cure and dry fully.

Choose your child’s favorite color and use self-adhesive rhinestones to embellish their letter. I used the hot pink adhesive jewels around the edge of the letter to give a bit of girly sparkle!

The final step is the most fun—figuring out where to hang your new custom wall art! My daughter had a place picked out on her wall. How pretty does it look up against her turquoise wall! She loves it! I hope I’ve inspired you to make your own rainbow monogram wall art for your child’s room or nursery. There are many different ways you can customize this project: Spell out your child’s full name or spell a 4-letter word (like LOVE)! The DIY canvases come in a pack of 4 so you could spell out your child’s whole name by buying more sets of canvases (unless your child’s name is 4 letters or less).
