Take some white paint and a sponge brush and lightly coat a tall galvanized pot. You can do a heavier layer if you don't want the lighthouse to appear as disptressed. Just be careful not to put too much on because it will strip the paint off.
Set aside to dry completely.
Use some sand paper to lightly scuff the white mini lantern. Grab a sponge brush and some silver paint, and paint the mini lantern. Set that aside to dry.
Once the white paint has dried on the tall galvanized pot, place painters tape around the pot for the stripes, and lightly brush on red paint. Set aside to dry completely.
Adding texture to the lighthouse is so easy with this natural cording. As soon as the paint on the tall galvanized pot is completely dry, glue down the end of the natural cording to the top of the tall galvanized pot with some hot glue. Begin wrapping the natural cording using hot glue to secure along the way.
Next, take the dry silver mini lantern, and secure to the natural cording on the painted tall galvanized pot with some hot glue.
You can also add some more dimension to your tall galvanized pot lighthouse, by running the natural cording around the paint lines. Just secure with some more hot glue.
Now your DIY Nautical Lighthouse is ready to be displayed with the rest of your Nautical decor.
