We are big fans of DIY projects that should require sewing, but can be done without a sewing machine! We created three sizes of DIY No-Sew Felt Baskets. We made these with glue, no needle or thread or sewing machine. We opted for a more modern or Scandinavian vibe with black felt and leather “handles”. You could make the baskets for your child's bedroom to use as storage organizers! I used a heavy weight fusible webbing to give the baskets more stability. I use mine in my office to store craft supplies; like my large collection of wood beads, cute little wooden spools and felted wood balls. The small basket measures 2 3/4 ” base, medium is 3 3/4″ and large is 4″. Be sure to download the Free DIY No-Sew Felt Basket Printable here!
Print the felt basket templates and and cut the felt from the templates. Cut two pieces of felt for one basket. Download the Free DIY No-Sew Felt Basket Printable here!
Trace the shape onto the heavy weight applique webbing and cut inside the traced line. You want to cut at least 1/4″ smaller than the felt.
Place the webbing in between the two layers of felt.
Iron the felt, following the instructions on the webbing package.
Fold the sides up. Use a hot glue gun to attach the edges. Be careful to only use a little amount of hot glue as it will show when it dries. You could use a strong fabric glue for best results. Hold the seams together for about 30 seconds after you glue to make sure it dries together.
Using the hot glue gun, attach the leather cord on two opposite edges.
