Bold colors and a hip, modern look are the elements that make up this easy to create Origami Seating Chart, featuring hand folded paper cranes. This is a fun wedding theme that is environmentally friendly, and can be translated into any color palette.
Using a single sheet of Origami Paper, fold in half from corner to corner as shown, and then in half from end to end, in both directions.
Fold in the two sides to create a diamond shape.
Fold a triangular fold to the center of the diamond as shown. Flip the piece over and repeat on the opposite side.
Open the folds you have just created, and then open the front flap, extending the paper up as shown. Fold in the sides to create a long, tall diamond shape. Repeat on the opposite side.
Fold in two narrow triangular flaps as shown, then fold the two sides together in the center. Repeat on the other side, and flatten out the piece. Fold the points upward so that they extend past the top.
Fold the flaps together in the center as before, and repeat on the opposite side. Flatten the piece, then fold down the triangular point, this will create the wing of the crane.
Gently bring the tall narrow points forward, one to the left and one to the right. These will form the head and tail of the crane. Bend the head at the top to create a beak, as shown.
Place one crane in a different color for each table at your event, and tape in place. Add your guest’s names to the Watercolor Board using a fine point Sharpie Marker.
We used a DecoColor Metallic Acrylic Paint Marker to add the words “Seating Chart” to our display. This makes it easy for your wedding guests to identify how to find their seats. The finished Origami Seating Chart is displayed on a vintage chair at the entrance to the wedding reception, and adds a fun and whimsical decorative element to the space.
