Even if you can’t make it to the zoo for Zoo Explorer Week of Camp Fun, you can make your own zoo scene at home! These small wood animal stand-ups are the perfect blank canvases for letting your campers’ creativity go wild. Arm them with colorful paint, markers, and googly eyes and be amazed at the animals they create!

Set out your supplies and let the kids choose which animal they would like to paint. I like to use craft trays to help contain the painting!

Decorate the animals with the paint and a small brush. I set out a cup of water and a paper towel for cleaning off the brushes between colors.

Once the paint is dry, you can add the googly eyes and any other embellishments. We used the paint pens to add smaller details. You could also decorate the animals with yarn, fabric, or feathers for additional interest!
