Oh my goodness! If you want to host a super fun craft party, try a paper lantern decorating party. This was so much fun! There are limitless ways to decorate these lanterns. Just get out the craft supplies and have at it. Here's how we made ours with 20 7 year olds. You'll Need... paper lanternswashi tape, cut tissue paper, pom pomsglue or glue dotsbeadslanyard or yarn watercolors (optional) Steps There is no wrong or right way to do these. Though, after trying them a few different ways with the 6-10 year old set, here are some tips. You may want to balance the lanterns in a small bowl to keep them steady. Tape, glue and paint your paper lantern using any supplies you love. Our favorites were washi tape, lettter stickers, and tissue paper. Pre cut tissue paper goes on the paper lanterns really nicely and you can do all kinds of patterns and designs. We also did this by painting the paper lanterns first with watercolors and that worked out really well. You can see a pic below. After you work on the lantern, add beaded string, yarn braids, and ribbons from the lantern. You can easily tie them to the inside of the lantern. The hanging details really make the lantern come alive. And of course, if you have a little LED light, pop it inside and light up your lantern. This is a great project for pre-teen and teenagers.
