Let kids create spooky string art with just a few basic craft supplies! Just like real spider webs, each project will turn out differently based on how kids decide to zig zag their web strings. Hang the finished DIY art from a door, window or anywhere to add some creepy crawly Halloween flair.
With scissors, cut evenly spaced slits around the edge of the paper plate. Make sure not to cut all the way down to the base of the plate. These slits are just meant to hold the baker’s twine in place.
Tie a knot at the end of your baker’s twine.
Slide the baker’s twine in between one of the paper plate’s slits. Pull the twine so the knot you made is touching the back of the paper plate. This knot will prevent the string from being pulled through the slit.
String the baker’s twine across the paper plate, slipping the twine into the cut slits to create a spider web. Continue until all of the slits are filled with twine.
After stringing the baker’s twine through the last slit, tie a knot so the string does not slip from the slit. Cut your remaining string to a desired hanging length.
Tie a scary spider onto the end of the string.
Apply glue dots to scary spiders and adhere them all over the twine web for a spooky look.
