Give your pencils some pizzazz with these super fun and easy firework Peanuts patriotic pencil toppers! Some simple, inexpensive supplies is all it takes to make an adorable party favor for your Memorial Day BBQ, 4th of July party or just for fun!
The first thing you need to do is cut some strips of tissue paper in red white and blue. I cut them about an inch and a half wide. I didn’t measure them, just eyeballed it.
Next, Stack it up and lightly fold into thirds or fourths. Using the shred scissors, make fringe about half way down. Then unfold the paper back into your strips.
Cut into about 1 1/2 inch strips, keeping them in a stack of red, white and blue. Then trim your wire garland into about 2 inch stems. You will have a lot leftover, so you can decorate other things. I used it to wrap around the cake plate on my Rice Krispie cake.
Now it’s time to assemble. Wrap the end of the pencil with the wire garland. Try to keep the stars towards the top of the eraser for a bigger firework effect.
Wrap a stack of tissue paper around the garland. Fluff the ends out a bit so all three colors show in the fringe.
Wrap the whole thing with washi, and you’re done!
