These no-sew DIY personalized photo pillows turned out so cute and are a fun way to decorate kids rooms. These pillows would also make for a special Mother's Day or grandparent gift!
Set out all your supplies to make it easy for everyone to reach what they need. Stella and Hazel started decorating their pillows with the adhesive fabric butterflies.
To add the butterflies, just peel off the adhesive backing and smooth onto the pillow cover. They adhere great!
To add the small felt shapes, the girls used the glue pen. It is perfect for applying a small amount of glue while minimizing mess!
You can also decorate your pillow with fabric trim or rickrack. Stella ran a generous bead of fabric glue down the back of the fabric trim to make it stick nicely to the bottom edge of the pillow cover.
You can further personalize your pillow by stenciling on a name if you like. We used these letter stencils and a foam brush with a small amount of craft paint for the stenciling. I recommend squeezing a small amount of craft paint onto a paper plate, dipping your foam brush into the paint, and then dabbing off any excess paint before stenciling. To stencil, use an up and down blotting motion with the brush.
Once the glue and paint on your pillow cover has fully dried you can stuff it with poly fiber fill or a pillow insert. Stella and Hazel thought this step was particularly fun!
Zip up your pillow, slip in a favorite photo, and you’re done!
