Luscious, buttery pound cake is layered with fluffy pale blue icing for a beautiful and delicious take on dessert for a Something Blue themed bridal shower. Once assembled, the cake is sliced into bite sized portions, dipped in chocolate and adorned with edible flowers and festive sprinkles.
- 1 Package Store Bought Pound Cake
- 1/2 c. Buttercream Icing (tinted blue)
- 1 Package White Candy Melts
- 16 Edible Violas or other Blue Culinary Flowers
- 3 Tbsp. Sprinkles in Blue and White
Use a bread knife to slice the pound cake lengthwise, into four equal sections.
Use a narrow spatula or butter knife to ice all but the top layer with blue icing.
Reassemble the cake by placing the layers back together, as shown.
Slice a 2 inch section of the cake and cut off the edges, so that you have a nice, clean rectangle of lovely layered cake.
Next, slice that portion of the cake into three equally sized rectangles. These will be the portions for the cake bites. Melt the candy melts, according to package instructions.
Carefully pour melted chocolate over each cake bite. You can use a fork or spatula to assist in coating the sides of each piece of cake. Take care to achieve the smoothest finish possible.
Working quickly before the chocolate sets, add sprinkles like this White Sprinklefetti from the Bakers Party Shop, and edible violas from Floating Petals Confetti. Go lightly with the decor, as the look to aim for is simple and elegant. Just a single flower will suffice.
Display completed cake bites on a darling cupcake stand. These are beautiful for any springtime party, or a Something Blue themed bridal shower.
