A Richly Textured Party Table
I created a bold fall tablescape for this pumpkin patch inspired 1st birthday by using lots of natural textures such as pampas, greenery, various florals and lots of pumpkins.
I started with a double layered table runner made from a Kraft Paper Roll topped with an Orange Plaid Table Runner.
In the center of the table I elevated my centerpiece with a Decorative Straw Hay Bale. On the front of the bale I attached the pumpkin patch section of the Fall Happenings Sign using a couple of small nails. Under the hay bale I added Silver Dollar Eucalyptus Stems and Cream-Colored Pampas Grass Reeds.
To create the centerpiece start with a floral filled pumpkin. I hollowed out an Orange Craft Pumpkin and filled it with teal sprayed hydrangea stems, orange blooms and fall leaves. I then accented the larger pumpkin with a smaller Fall Foam Pumpkin.
Next to the florals I placed a Blue Ceramic Truck. Adding a vinyl "1" to the door and filling it with Pumpkin Pom-Poms finished off the look. The mini pumpkins are the perfect size for this cute little truck!
At each end of the table I added additional Orange Craft Pumpkins, Fall Foam Pumpkins and scattered small Orange Acrylic Pumpkins.
A Clear Gold Trim Votive Holder and a White Bud Jar Vase were filled with dried flowers, pampas, eucalyptus and faux hydrangeas. I spray painted the dried and faux florals to match the party's color palette.
Style Modern Settings
I created a bold and colorful table setting, starting with Teal Lagoon Paper Dinner Plates. From there I and layered Pumpkin-Shaped Dinner Plates on top and tucked a Solid Color Dinner Napkin under the bottom plate.
On top of the pumpkin plate I tied Metallic Gold Hammered Assorted Cutlery together with orange plaid ribbon and added a small Pumpkin Pom-Pom to the top of the knot, attaching it with a single glue dot.
On one side of the setting set out Pumpkin Foil Cups with a Polka Dot Paper Straw.
On the other side I used a customized Pumpkin Cork Coaster. I simply added the words "Lil Pumpkin" to it using vinyl cut in a barn themed font.
On top of the coaster I placed a Clear Premium Plastic Wine Glass.
I used a thick clear plastic to create a DIY drink tag featuring a vinyl harvest truck.
I always like to leave small gifts for guests next to their setting. For this setting I used Kraft Paper Favor Boxes and tied them with Double Faced Satin Ribbon. A vinyl pumpkin accent was then added on top of the box and ribbon.
Inside the box I placed a DIY Ceramic Pumpkin Trinket Box. I painted the box orange, tied it with a matching Double Faced Satin Ribbon and filled it with Orange Chevron Buttermints.
Pumpkin Patch Treats
I set the dessert table up under a bold and bright balloon arch made of orange, white and turquoise 11" balloons, orange & white 9" and teal & orange 5" balloons.
Under the balloon arch I created a unique name banner using a Color Your Own Harvest Truck Sign. I painted it to match the color palette and used a Sharpie to sharpen the outlines before adding the birthday child's name in vinyl letters.
I used the same table cover combination on the dessert table that I created for the larger dining table. In the center of the table I placed the cake onto an orange cake stand and elevated this with a hay bale. I then accented the hay bale using teal painted pumpkins and faux florals.
In front of the cake I used stems of pampas and a mix of pumpkins, raising some of these on Small Hay Bales to create a more natural vignette. In front of this pumpkin patch vignette I used another Blue Ceramic Truck filled with Pumpkin Pom-Poms.
At each side of the cake I added a selection of coordinating treats; Short Round Pedestal Jars filled with Orange Foil-Wrapped Caramels and small cupcake stands with cookies.
Glass Jars tied with orange plaid ribbon and filled with Sixlets Sparkling Orange Chocolate Candy also graced our dessert table. I used DIY Unfinished Wood Mini Crates to give the jars some added height and mix up the look of the table.
At the back of the table I used Acrylic Risers filled with Small Hay Bales to raise up cake stands of truck and pumpkin cookies.
These darling cookies were made by my friend Adrienne from Trophy Baking here in Portland.
Smashing Pumpkins!
On one side of the dessert table I placed the guest of honor's high chair under a sweet lil' pumpkin banner.
I made the banner using DIY Unfinished Wood Pumpkin Shapes that I'd painted and added vinyl letters to. From there, the pumpkins were stapled onto a length of ribbon. At the end of the lengths of ribbon I used glittered pumpkins from the Pumpkin Shape Assortment.
To decorate the high chair I used a White Tassel Garland around the table portion and tied a length of ribbon around the top of the tassels. Finally, I added a painted pumpkin shape with a vinyl harvest truck to the middle of ribbon.
As an alternative to a smash cake, I used an oversized cupcake to represent a HUGE pumpkin in the back of a harvest truck. An Orange Acrylic Pumpkin made a cute topper along with one of my DIY harvest truck discs. If you choose to place an acrylic pumpkin on top of the cupcake, be sure to use gum paste so the cupcake stays food safe. I placed the truck on top of a Jumbo Foam Pumpkin to make it pop against the white high chair.
Let The Kids Play
There are always siblings and smaller kids at 1st birthday parties, so I like to have a kids' table set up in addition to the tables for parents, family and friends.
A pumpkin marks the spot and the special occasion! I spray painted a giant pumpkin teal, added an orange vinyl 1, and placed it in front of the kids' table.
I made another banner to hang over the kids' table; this one simply said "Happy Birthday". Again, I painted DIY Unfinished Wood Pumpkin Shapes, added letters and stapled them onto a length of ribbon. At the end of the lengths of ribbon I used glittered pumpkins from the Pumpkin Shape Assortment.
For the kids' table I used a simple Kraft Paper Roll runner which is perfect so small guests can draw directly on it!
For each child's place settings I started with a Pumpkin-Shaped Dinner Plate, layered a Teal Lagoon Paper Dessert Plate on top and finished everything off with a pumpkin cookie.
For the kids, drinks were served in the cutest Lil' Pumpkin Cups and savory treats were served in Mini Kraft Paper Popcorn Boxes with a vinyl orange pumpkin embellishment.
The final touch was a themed sensory tray! I spray painted a Truck Tire Tray teal and it worked perfectly.
I then filled it with fun, tactile themed items: teal Acrylic Gems, Beaded Necklaces, Mini Halloween Molded Poppers, slime, Large Fall Leaves, Pumpkin Pom-Poms, Orange Acrylic Pumpkins, and Mini Pumpkin Stress Toys. So many fun, sensory and color coordinated pumpkin patch items!
