I absolutely love any and everything monogrammed, and it’s very common for couples to have their married monogram used as a design element throughout their wedding details. Perhaps you remember this button monogram artwork I created? So fun! I decided to craft up another option for monogram artwork, this time utilizing embroidery thread and thick cording to create a Stitched Raised Monogram on canvas or fabric! I absolutely love how they turned out! Check out the technique and tutorial below. Download the Free Printable Letters here!
Start by choosing the letter you want to create, and download and print the optional template if you feel like you need it. Take your Thick Cording and use it to form the shape of your letter onto your canvas. Cut the cording to size.

Once you’ve got the letter shape that you want, you can either use a hot glue gun to adhere the Thick Cording to your canvas or attach your cording with some simple strategically placed stitches.
Choose the color of Embroidery Thread you want to use for your monogram and start to cover the cording by stitching through the canvas and over the cord. Repeat until the entire letter is covered in thread.
For a rustic look, leave the frayed edges of your cording raw. Display with a tabletop easel or hang on a wall! So cute!
For another option, you can create a raised stitched monogram with some fabric and an embroidery hoop. You’ll use the exact same technique, stitching the Embroidery Thread onto the thick cording.
The letter is lovely enough on its own, but feel free to get creative and add additional embroidered details to the letters if you choose! You could add flowers or other accents by stitching onto the fabric! I really love that you can really customize this project to make it your own! I hope you’ve enjoyed this simple monogram project and that it inspires you to explore your creativity! Happy crafting!
