Colored sand is simply dreamy. There is something about doing sand art that is so nostalgic and takes me back to my youth. It only seemed appropriate to include a Sand Art Necklace Bottle craft in my Nautical Girls Birthday Party. You can make your necklace as simple or elaborate as you'd like. Add a second color of sand. We used Gold Glitter Sand and it sparkles like a treasure on the bottom of the ocean floor! I will caution you that the Gold Glitter Sand is very staticy and wanted to stick to the sides of the bottle. It looks pretty, but it was a bit of a pain.
Add in your third color of sand. We used Mint Sand and boy was it pretty! Continue layering your sand however you’d like. There really isn’t a correct way to do this. It’s your art! Be bold, be creative!
Once you are done layering your sand, cut a piece of Hot Pink Bakers Twine. This will be used as the “chain” for your necklace. If you don’t want to make a necklace, you can skip down to Step 5.
Feed the two ends of your twine through the little black thing, tie a knot or two at the end so the string can’t slip back through. For good measure, add some hot glue inside the black thing.
Place your string and black thing into the bottle. I filled mine too full and had to dump some of it out. I would recommend only filling it up to the first lip of the bottle.
Place your cork into your bottle, but not all the way flush. You may want to remove it later.
You can proceed to tie on the Goldtone Anchor Charm and wrap it around the top of your bottle with your cork and sting still attached OR you can remove them.
Place a Goldtone Anchor Charm on a piece of Natural Jute Cording. Mine was approximately 12″-18″ in length. First, place your anchor in the center of your piece of cording and tie it onto your bottle. I tied it just under that first lip. Add a dot of hot glue to hold in place. Continue to wrap the Natural Jute Cording around the neck of the bottle and add hot glue, as needed.
