Is there any limit to what a Mason jar can do? It’s pretty safe to say no, and to prove it, we incorporated the classic glass container into this month’s Supply Of The Month Challenge. For this particular project, a collection of Mason jars was transformed into a simple minimalist candle holder display. Read on for the 4-part DIY details!

Unscrew and remove the rims and tops of the number of Pint Ball® Mason Jars you plan to use to build your candle holder collection. You may discard the tops or stow them away if you think you’ll ever use the Mason jars for a more traditional function in the future.

Use scissors to cut one small corner off each of the bags of sand. This will allow you to skip having to use a funnel to pour your sand into the jars—instead, you’re turning the bag itself into a funnel! We used a cohesive palette of White SandGrey/Silver SandBlack Sand, and Tan Craft Sand for this project.

Hold a White Taper Candle in the center of an empty Mason jar. Slowly pour the entire contents of the sand bag into the jar, being careful to pour the sand evenly around the candle for proper support.

To finish the collection, repeat steps 2-3 for each of your Mason jars and bags of sand. If needed, you can gently shake the sand-filled Mason jar to more evenly distribute the sand. Another option for added stability is to add a dot of heavy duty glue to the bottom of the candle before putting it in the jar. This will create a permanent bond between the candle and glass. That said, we found that the sand held the candle very securely in place without adhesive.
