One of the most time-honored traditions for a wedding is for the bride to have Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, and Something Blue. The tradition comes from an Old English rhyme, and the four elements are meant to bring the bride luck or good fortune in her marriage. Typically the bride wears or carries these items with her in some form on her wedding day, so we created a project to help you do just that! You’ll need to gather your supplies. Choose the types of beads you want to use and lay them out in the order you want to arrange them. For the coin, you could use one from the year you were born as your “something old!” Feel free to use a dime to keep the silver theme of your bracelet, but I like the way the copper penny pops against the other elements.
Once you’ve arranged your bracelet to your liking, start by gluing your coin to the Pendant Bail with E6000 Glue. Set aside to dry.
Using your Jewelry Pliers, apply jump rings to the charms and pieces that will dangle from your bracelet. We added jump rings to the Wedding Ring Charms and the Lockets.
You’ll want to add your “something borrowed!” We decided to riff on the idea of a borrowed object by instead “borrowing” a line from a poem to accompany the bride. We chose a line from an E. E. Cummings classic, “I carry your heart with me. (I carry it in my heart.)” Download our perfectly sized locket printable. Print out the file and cut it into a circle with scissors. Then, place the poem line face down in your locket so it is clearly readable through the glass.

There was a little extra space in our locket, so we decided to place some clear table tossers in the locket for an extra dose of sparkle. Then close the locket, the magnet will hold it secure.
Now you can add all the beads and charms to your bracelet chain.
Depending on the size of your wrist or the diameter of your bouquet handle, you may or may not need to add extra jump rings to the end of your bracelet. Feel free to do that as needed.
You could wear this as a bracelet, anklet, or wrap it around your bouquet! Whatever your heart desires. I really love this unique way of embracing this tradition. Hope it inspires you to think outside the box for your own wedding day!
