Paper fans are perfect for party decorations, but did you know they can also be used to make festive holiday wreaths? I used a variety of paper fans and shamrocks to make this DIY St. Patrick's Day wreath. This wreath is a fun and stylish way to decorate your home and show off your Irish pride this St. Patrick's Day!
Start by wrapping your foam wreath with the burlap ribbon, slightly overlapping the ribbon as you go. Secure the start and end of the ribbon with a dab of hot glue.
Each package of the gold chevron fans and St. Patrick’s Day print fans comes with a larger size and smaller size of fans. I used just the smaller sized fans for this wreath, except for one large fan with the shamrock in the middle. Start by opening each fan and adding a bead of hot glue to secure them in place so they stay open.
Use your scissors to trim the hanger off the top of each paper fan.
You can also use your scissors to cut notches in a couple of your fans to create a different, pointed look.
Once you have all your paper fans ready, lay them out around the wreath form to get the look you want. I used 3 small gold chevron fans and four St. Patrick’s print fans (3 small, and 1 large with the shamrock).
To secure the fans to the wreath form, make a small tab using a piece of card stock or cardboard. Glue the short end of the tab to the back of the fan and then use the large end of the tab to adhere the fan to the wreath with a generous dab of hot glue. Once all your paper fans are in place, you can go around the wreath and add additional hot glue and tabs if needed to hold all the fans in place securely.
To embellish your wreath, you can add some shimmering shamrocks to the center of each fan with hot glue, or you can add a few shamrocks from this cute foam shamrock craft kit.
