Take the kids outside to observe the beautiful colors of spring and hunt for different insects. Then come inside and spend the afternoon creating this beautiful stained glass insect craft.
Mix together the black glue. To do this, remove the cap from the bottle of Elmer's School Glue. Squeeze 1 tbsp. of black acrylic paint into the glue bottle. Use a stirring stick to thoroughly incorporate the black paint into the school glue. Replace the lid on the glue bottle. You may need to shake the bottle vigorously to further incorporate the paint and glue together.
Print out either the ladybug or butterfly stained glass craft template on watercolor paper. On a napkin or separate piece of paper, test out the flow of your black glue by creating several lines. Once you are happy with the flow, spread the black glue, then trace the lines of the template with the black glue.
Let the black glue on the template dry completely. This step is important because if you paint your picture prior to the black glue drying your liquid watercolors will mix with the black paint.
Once the black glue is completely dry, use a small paintbrush to paint the details of the stained glass template with liquid watercolors.
After the liquid watercolors have dried completely, cut out around the perimeter of the butterfly or ladybug template.
