When designing party tablescapes, I like the flexibility that solid colored tableware gives me.  I also love that designing a tablescape with solid colored tableware allows me to add patterns and fabulous centerpieces that don’t clash with the tableware. Today, I’m going to share with you how to use solid colored tableware five ways using five different party tablescapes and my design tips!

1: Add a Pattern

For this flamingo party table I started with Black Round Paper Dinner PlatesCandy Pink Paper Dessert PlatesCandy Pink Beverage Napkins and Metallic Silver Cutlery.

I then added in Black & White Striped Luncheon NapkinsBlack & White Striped Table Runner and polka dot napkins for a chic look.

The DIY Flamingo Centerpiece is the star of this table! Simply tape Flamingo Family Yard Decorations to the inside of a white painted DIY Flower Box. Wrap the box with Black & White Striped Satin Ribbon and add flowers around the edge of the box.

Don’t forget the details! Continue to add the black and white striped pattern by placing Black Striped Paper Straws over the flamingo legs and in these Cylinder Champagne Flutes. How chic!

2: Create a Rainbow

Rainbow parties are all the rage! Get in on this trend by designing a tropical rainbow party tablescape with solid colored tableware in all 6 colors of the rainbow. Get both the Dinner Party Plates, Dessert Party Plates and Dinner Napkins in all 6 colors (hot pinkorangeyellowlime greenturquoise and purple).

Inspired by the gold at the end of the rainbow, I added in shiny gold elements and layered the solid colored plates and White Dinner Plates on top of Gold Diamond Rim Clear Plastic Chargers. Add Metallic Gold Cutlery on top of White Dinner Napkins folded with a solid colored napkin that match the bottom plate.

For the table’s centerpiece, pair Bright Pineapple Centerpieces and White Candle Holders with a jumbo rainbow balloon. This party table is perfect for upcoming summer parties!

For fun, add Bright Polka Dot Favor Boxes in front of each place setting. Match the plates to the favor box by layering a solid dessert plate on top of the dinner plate that matched the color of the polka dot in the favor box.

To add a graphic element, place a color-coordinated pineapple paper cutout from a Bright Pineapple Garland on each place setting.

Finish the place setting with white spray painted Pineapple Cups that guests can take home as party favors.

3: Add Metallics

For this modern safari tablescape I wanted a soft, monochromatic look with lots of shine, so I started with Metallic Silver Round Paper Dinner PlatesMetallic Silver Beverage NapkinsWhite Dinner Napkins and Metallic Silver Cutlery.

To add more metallic shine, I used Silver Ombre Champagne Flutes and layered the solid colored tableware on top of Silver Metallic Chargers. Give the table a whimsical look, add modern Ceramic Elephant Banks to every place setting. How cute are these!

For the centerpiece, continue with the metallic look by placing shiny metallic vases, Mercury Votive Holders and modern white ceramic safari animals on top of a Silver Sequin Table Runner. This table would be perfect for a gender neutral baby shower or first birthday party.

4: Add Natural Elements

This tropical teal color is my favorite color for a modern luau party! I started setting the table with these Tropical Teal Paper Dessert PlatesTropical Teal Luncheon NapkinsWhite Paper Dinner Plates and Metallic Gold Cutlery.

Add natural elements to the table, layer the solid colored tableware on top of Wood Pattern Chargers and slip a Medium Silk Palm Leaf under each charger.

To give the table a tropical feel, add Ceramic Tiki Tumblers to each place setting and create a tropical centerpiece with Luau Leaf Light-Up Lanterns and green leafy plants in modern white vases.

5: Add One Accent Color

Gold is a hot new trend this year. Incorporate it in a Golden Pineapple Party Tablescape by starting with bright, White Paper Dinner PlatesMetallic Gold Paper Dessert PlatesWhite Dinner Napkins and Metallic Gold Cutlery.

Add a golden pineapple touch to the placesetting by layering the solid tableware on top of shiny Gold Diamond Rim Clear Plastic Chargers which have a pattern that reminds me of the outside of a pineapple. I also placed one half of a Pineapple Favor Container on each place setting.

Add golden metallic details! Place Gold Foil Striped Paper Straws in Clear Stemless Plastic Wine Glasses to complete the place setting. For the centerpiece, start with a Gold Sequin Table Runner and top it with Gold Geometric Terrarium Candle Holders filled with Diamond Rhinestones and white paper flowers. Finish the centerpiece with shimmery DIY ceramic gold pineapples. I made these by simply spray painting Ceramic Pineapple Tumblers. How fabulous do they look perched on top of White Candle Holders?!

Using solid colored tableware is more cost-effective when you are hosting a party with more than 8 guests. Most pre-printed partyware comes in packs of 8-10 pieces so you have to purchase mulitple packages to set a table for more than 8-10 guests. Solid color partyware, however, is a better option as they come with 12-24 pieces per package for around the same cost making it a more economical option.

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I designed my party table 5 ways with solid colored tableware and are inspired to set up one of these themes for your next party!
