6 Steps to an Organized Craft Supply Closet!

I thought this closet with built-in shelves on one side would be perfect for organizing my supplies in various sizes of bins. If you don’t have shelves, you can buy an inexpensive metal or plastic shelving unit that fits your closet to create a lot more storage space. On the wall opposite the shelves I hung this handy file folder storage pocket to keep all my craft stencils organized and easy to see.

Hang pocket file holders to maximize wall space

The nylon file holder is the perfect way to maximize wall space in a narrow storage area and could hold all sorts of flat craft supplies – from stencils, to paper, to stickers and labels. I used a variety of clear boxes for my storage space including these shoe box sized clear storage bins with lids and the larger clear classroom storage tubs. I put the open storage tubs on the bottom two shelves and filled them with supplies like pom-poms and craft cleaners.

Label everything

Labels are the key to be organized! Clear pocket labels work great that allow you to slot in a piece of paper or card stock. You can also use chalkboard stickers and chalk markers to label your storage bins. Since I’m frequently rotating through different craft supplies, these ideas make it easy to quickly swap in a new label.

Think Outside the Box

While clear storage boxes are my go-to, I also love this set of storage jars for smaller supplies I want to show off like my washi tape, balloons, and (more) pom-poms! If you have small supplies like buttons, beads, or confetti, these sturdy craft storage bags are perfect for keeping them organized within the storage bins. They come in multiple sizes!

Show off your projects

Even a closet deserves to be decorated! To make your craft space extra special, carve out a little room to display some of your creations. I hung this colorful flower sticker art I made earlier this year and it makes the space that much more cheerful and fun.
