Your kids will love making an adorable Tissue Paper Plate Chick. This easy and fun kids craft is perfect for and Easter craft or for a rainy day activity.
Pour a little bit of Elmer's School glue onto a paper plate for the kids to dip in. Give each child a pencil, 1 small white dessert paper plate, and a pile of yellow tissue paper squares.
Pick up one piece of tissue paper and place in the center of the pencil's eraser. Twist the paper up around the pencil. Dip in the glue, just a small amount, and place on the plate, slowly removing the pencil.
Once the plate is filled with tissue paper, let it sit for a couple minutes to let the glue dry. Then have the child softly press down on the tissue paper to give it a fun crinkly and somewhat, feathered look. Notice that we didn't pack in the tissue paper. We left some open spaces and pressing down on the tissue fills in the gaps.
Next add a beak and eyes. For the beak, I just cut a strip of orange construction paper to about 1" wide and draw a triangle shape. Just cut it out. I like to fold over and so the beak opens. Then place some Googly eyes on.
To make the feet, cut a chenille stem into 4ths. Take two of them and wrap one around the bottom of the other until it forms a foot. Repeat with the other two cut stems. I just taped these onto the back of the plate.
And now you have one cute little chick made by some adorable little hands.
