This Toy Story drip cake will be the star of any Toy Story Party! Guests will never believe how easy this cake is to make- just start with a plain yellow store-bought cake and decorate it yourself. Learn how to make a simple two-ingredient ganache to make colorful drips down the side of the cake, then add a variety of colorful candy to finish off this show stopping cake!

Step
1

Order a plain yellow three-layer cake from your local grocery store bakery.

Make up some colorful blue chocolate ganache to create the lovely drips down the side of the cake.

To make the ganache, heat 6 Tbsp. heavy cream in a small pot on the stove over low heat. Once the cream is almost boiling, add 1 package of blue chocolate melts and remove from heat. Stir until the chocolate is melted into the heavy cream. Let the ganache cool bit so that it can still be poured but won't melt the frosting on the cake.

Place some blue ganache on a spoon. Drip the ganache down the sides of the cake from the very top edge, one section at a time.

When the sides are all done, add more chocolate ganache to the top of the cake. Use a spoon or knife to make it look nice and smooth.

Now for the fun part- decorating the cake! If you want to add plastic toys, you'll want to figure out where they'll go first. It's best if they have a nice flat base because they're less likely to slip or fall off. If they have legs like Woody, you might need to wait until the frosting gets a bit harder so the toy is more stable. You can also use a rock candy stick like I did to hold a toy if they are not wanting to stay up.

Because the toys aren't food safe, it's important that you add a bit of fondant on the bottom of the feet or at the base so that the fondant is touching the top of the cake, not the toys.

Add the candy one piece at a time to the cake top, starting with the bigger candy. Colorful twisty lollipops and rock candy pops are all great choices to start with because they add height and dimension to the top of the cake.

Now it's time for the smaller candy. Purple rock candy crystals and gumballs in lots of different colors look great scattered across the cake and add a lot of color.

To finish off the Toy Story drip cake, add candy to the sides and the base of the cake. Add small Toy Story toys around the base of the cake to match the party theme and to make the cake even more fun!
