Encourage guests to jump into the fun of guessing your baby's gender by wearing the color of their vote! No one can resist wearing a lei for a tropical themed party, so get your guests in the mood by offering light blue leis for a boy vote and light pink leis for a girl. Seeing everyone's guesses in such a festive way is sure to get the conversation started. Follow the steps below to create your own DIY Lei Activity Station.
Begin by placing a long piece of washi tape on the diagonal across the middle section of a medium palm leaf. Press firmly to ensure the paint does not seep underneath the tape.
Paint the upper half of the palm leaflight pink. To achieve a more pastel color I mixed a bit of white and pink paint together. Depending upon the shade of pink you choose you may need to paint several light layers in order to fully cover the palm leaf.
Once the pink paint has dried, remove the washi tape and place another piece along the edge of the pink side, then paint the bottom half of the palm leaflight blue.
While the paint on the palm leaf is drying, add a piece of washi tape on the diagonal across the acrylic sign stand and paint the right side light blue. Apply light layers to ensure the paint does not bubble and appear too clumpy.
Download and print the free printable "Blue Or Pink, Wear What You Think" template and place behind the clear acrylic sign, making sure to center the phrase in the middle of the sign. Using a chalk marker, trace over the words. Alternately, if your handwriting is better than mine, simply write the phrase yourself!
Allow the chalk lettering to fully dry, then turn the sign over face down. Next, place the palm leaf face down on a diagonal on the back of the sign. Be sure the palm leaf is completely dry before beginning this step. Add a small dab of hot glue to each tip of the palm leaf and gently press it against the sign to adhere the two together. Note: as each palm leaf varies slightly in size, you may need to trim the bottom of the leaf a bit in order for it to fit inside the sign's parameters.
To create your lei station, begin by adding light blue and light pink leis to gold geometric terrariums.
Place the acrylic sign into the stand and set it by the terrariums filled with leis. As your guests arrive for your Luau Gender Reveal Party they will be encouraged to choose a color to wear what gender they think the baby will be!
