Unicorns are still a huge trend in my classroom! I love that there are now so many great mentor texts based on unicorns with a message on how special or unique each unicorn is…just like the students in our classrooms! This Valentine's Day, throw a Unicorn Themed Classroom Party using ready-to-go treat bags, fun classroom games, crafts, and much more! It will be a Valentine's Day party that your students will remember forever.
Prior to a Valentine's Day party, I always like to allow time for my students to make Valentine's Day treat bags. Many of my students wouldn't be able to make treat bags at home and this takes one step out of the holiday for families. The Unicorn Valentine Card Holder Paper Bag Craft comes with all the necessary pieces in individual bags. I love that there's no separating, cutting or gluing required. Add a name to each bag using a Sharpie.
How can we have a Unicorn Valentine's Day Party without the proper attire? We simply can't! Students will have a blast creating and designing a crown using these Color Your Own Unicorn Crown Kits. I always love to see my students' imagination come out during a craft. This would be a great time to review how unique and special each student is. The stickers in these kits are self-adhesive, which I love. If you're brave, you could even add in Glitter Glue Pens to add a little sparkle.
A party must have games to keep kids entertained! I really like to keep holiday games simple. The day can already be a tad crazy and the simpler the game is, the better. Students will love to play classmates in a Unicorn 3-in-1 Game that includes line up, checkers, and tic-tac-toe. This game set comes with folded cardboard game boards and stickers that can be reused. Want to play a whole class game? Unicorn Bingo is the solution. If you need to include some type of academic review, use a Sharpie to add a math problem or phonics skill to the cards and game boards. Unicorn Poop Candy or Smarties Valentine Candy Love Hearts could be used as markers.
I always try to incorporate writing into all classroom activities, including parties. Grab your favorite unicorn themed mentor text to enjoy with your students. Make sure to pick a book that discusses how unique each unicorn is such as "Unicorn Day" or "Thelma the Unicorn." After reading the book, discuss the theme of the book and connect it to how we are all unique in our own special way...just like unicorns! Complete this activity by having students create a keepsake Valentine Unicorn Magnet Craft and following a writing prompt. Download the free Unicorn Writing Prompt Sheet here!
It wouldn't be Valentine's Day without a card and candy! Grab these adorable ready to go Unicorn Theme Horn Twisty Lollipops for a sweet treat. My students are a huge fan of the twisty lollipops and look forward to receiving one each holiday. If you're not able to hand out candy, the Unicorn Valentine's Day Giveaway Pencils with Card are perfect alternatives. The pencils write in different colors which is sure to mesmerize students!
Do you have a little extra time to spend on your Valentines? If so, print off a set of these Free Valentine Printables and attach a Unicorn Crayon or Unicorn Bubble Tube. It's very easy to attach an item to the printable using Washi Tape. If you need more unique unicorn ideas, make sure to check out the Unicorn Slime, Unicorn Coloring Page, or Unicorn Rainbow Punch. All of these would be perfect for a special classroom party!
