Teachers and students LOVE mini erasers! They are a fun and affordable tool to use in the classroom. One thing I love about mini erasers is that you can easily change them out so an  activity feels new and adds excitement for the students with little effort on your behalf. While there are many uses for mini erasers in the classroom, here are 10 of my favorite ideas!

1.
Insect Mini Eraser Scoop and Graph

These Mini Insect Erasers are perfect for some fun, hands-on graphing practice! Students use the Going Buggy Bug Tongs to scoop some insect erasers out of a bin and then graph the results. It's a great springtime math activity that works great in centers or as practice for the class. I've included the graph as a free download in my Insect Mini Eraser Scoop and Graph article.

Ten Frame Fun

We love using these Plastic Ten Frame Trays in first grade. They are so durable and a great hands-on learning tool for kids. Instead of using normal counters, my students get SO excited whenever I pull out the erasers to use! These Star Mini Erasers are a great way for students to show two different parts of the whole in their ten frame.

Sight Word Spelling

Have students make their sight words out of mini erasers. Just include the word cards for the sight words you use and then students use the erasers to spell the word. The Mini Eraser Assortment is great for sight words because it gives students many options. They can even use a different type of eraser for each letter in the word. My students love using erasers in our word work center!

Bingo Counters

Bingo games, like this Color and Shapes Premium Bingo set, are a fun way to review skills. Instead of using bingo chips, have students use mini erasers, like these Mini Smile Face Heart Erasers, to fill in their bingo board.

Letter or Number Practice

For your students that need practice with letter or number formations have them use mini erasers to form them! Give students a tracer, like these Giant Dry Eraser Traceable Letters, and have them make the letter with mini erasers. These Mini Zoo Animal Erasers are a lot of fun to use!

Phonemic Awareness Practice

Our emerging readers need hands-on practice with sounding out words. Instead of having them use their finger, let students push an eraser, like these Donut Erasers, into the Elkonin Boxes as they sound out the phonemes in words. This Build a Word Card Set is great for small group practice and centers.

Math Manipulatives

Mini erasers are my go-to math manipulative! They are fun, colorful, easy to change in your rotation of materials, and affordable! My students become so engaged when they see me pull out a new mini eraser, like these Polar Bear Erasers, and beg to use them for math time. We love using them for addition and subtraction so that we can see and understand how adding and subtracting works. We also love using dry erase markers and sleeves to record our answers in math!

Whole Class Behavior Incentive

Reinforce great behavior by placing a mini eraser, like these adorable Mini Flip Flop Erasers, into a Short Jar whenever the class is on task or making great choices! When the jar is filled the class can earn a reward! We love cost-free rewards like extra recess, lunch in the classroom, stuffed animal day and PJ day! You can also change the kind of mini eraser you put in the jar each time it is filled or use mini erasers that fit the season.

Morning Tubs or STEM Activities

My students love exploring with erasers and come up with the most creative ideas for building things out of erasers! Put a variety of mini erasers into a Small Locking Storage Bin and let students go to town as they collaborate, invent, and create new things out of mini erasers! The Mini Eraser Assortment offers a great variety of erasers to start a morning tub or STEM activity bin.
