Gnome one can resist a cute gnome – especially when it's a Valentine's Day gnome! Easy to make and so fun to give, these adorable DIY gnomes are a must for your Valentine crafts. Whether you display them at home or give them as Valentine's Day gifts, these Valentine gnomes will steal your heart. Follow along with this easy tutorial to learn how to make a gnome for Valentine's Day.
Download, print and cut out the gnome templates. Use a chalk marker to trace the hat and apron patterns onto felt sheets. Be sure to place the gnome body template onto the fold as shown on the download. Cut out the shapes you traced onto the felt sheets. You can download the Gnome Templates here. Use hot glue to secure the gnome felt body around the base of a DIY Medium Styrofoam Cone.
Rubber band three 16" lengths of Natural Cording together. Separate the strands, making sure that they do not tangle, and brush them out with your fingers or with the help of a comb. Make two of these.
Separate the strands into three sections and make a 10-12" braid. Secure the end with a rubber band and trim the excess.
Using a few strands of the excess cording from the braid, tie the middle of the bundle together and set aside. This will be used to create a moustache.
Tie the remaining brushed out cording into three different sections and cut to create the beard sections.
To make the male gnome, glue a large wood bead to the felt body. Use hot glue to adhere three beard sections under the wood nose.
Glue the mustache directly under the nose using hot glue. Glue a Wool Felt Valentine Heart and two wood beads for hands to the beard
Glue the felt hat around the top of the styrofoam cone and decorate it with hearts. We used hearts that we cut from the Heart-shaped Diecut Ribbon.
To make the female gnome, glue a large wood bead to the felt body. Cut a ½" strip of white felt. Glue the felt strip and the felt apron you previously cut to the gnome body. Decorate with a Glitter Paper Heart Shape.
Use hot glue to adhere the middle of the braided cording (from step 4) directly above the nose. Tie Red Ribbon bows around the ends of the braids to decorate.
Glue the felt hat around the top of the styrofoam cone and decorate with hearts. We used hearts that we cut from the Heart-shaped Diecut Ribbon.
Now it's time to enjoy the sweet Valentine's Day gnomes you made, but we're warning you – everyone will want this Valentine craft for their very own!
