Celebrate Valentine's Day in style with these easy paper plate heart hats! Kids of all ages can make this adorable Valentine's Day craft in a short amount of time. Don't forget to add some sparkle and bling with self-adhesive rhinestone jewels!
Start by folding the paper plate in half.
Using scissors, begin to cut a heart shape from the fold of the plate. When getting to the bottom of the heart, do not cut too close to the rim. You want the heart base thicker and sturdy so that it stands up.
Note: The bottom of the heart will not form a point.
Now, begin to cut on the inner edge of the plate’s rim until you reach the bottom of the heart. Pull the piece you just cut off.
Open your plate with the matte side facing up. The matte side (bottom of the plate) will be the side you decorate.
Paint the plate pink or red for Valentine’s Day. Allow plate to dry. Repeat coats until the desired shade of pink or red is achieved. Add the fine glitter while last coat of paint is still wet. You can also spread a thin layer of Elmer’s glue on the hat and then sprinkle your glitter. Shake off excess glitter.
Once the hat is dry, embellish your adorable Valentine heart hat with rhinestone jewels. Ella wanted to draw hearts on the rim of her hat too! Let kids get creative with how they will design their heart hats.
