One of my favorite memories growing up was creating Valentine card boxes, so I couldn't resist creating baby's first Valentine box! We turned a traditional Valentine card box into a fun baby gender guessing game that brought out the competitive side of our Gender Reveal Party guests. Follow the steps below to create your own and have a blast watching everyone cast their votes!
Begin by removing the flag and cording from two Letters From God Mailbox Craft Kits. Set the flag aside for the next step.
Next, paint the main body portion of the two mailboxes. Paint one with light pink paint and the other light blue. At the same time, paint one DIY Unfinished Wood Mini Heart and mailbox flag light pink, and another heart and flag light blue.
Once the paint on the body of the mailboxes has dried, use washi tape to protect the surface as you paint the ends of each of the mailboxes in the opposite color; light pink on the ends of the blue mailbox, and light blue on the pink mailbox.
Set the mailboxes aside to dry. Coat a DIY Slat Sign with white acrylic paint.
Allow the white paint to dry, and then lay a long strip of washi tape diagonally on the long end of the sign to divide it into two equal portions. Paint one side with light pink paint and the other side light blue.
Now add the word "girl" and "boy" to the painted DIY Unfinished Wood Mini Hearts. If you have a cutting machine you can cut the words from pink adhesive vinyl, or you can use a pink Sharpie® Marker to write the words directly onto the hearts.
Add the "girl" heart to the light blue flag and the "boy" heart to the light pink flag using a dab of hot glue. Adhere the flags onto their mailboxes using another dab of hot glue.
To create a stylish pull for each mailbox, cut a 2" length of Gold Sparklet Glitter Ribbon and then fold it in half. Insert the two ends into the hole on the front of the mailbox opening and then secure the ribbon to the mailbox using hot glue.
Now that the paint on the DIY Slat Sign has dried, add the phrase "what will our little love be?" to the center of the sign. This can be done by cutting the words out of pink vinyl using a cutting machine, or you can use this method HERE to lightly trace the words onto the sign, and then go over them with a pink Sharpie® Marker. Next, download and cut the Valentine's Gender Reveal Voting Cards found here. Punch a small hole into one end of each, and then thread a small length of either pink or blue baker's twine onto each. Add the voting cards, along with a pen, to a Mini Square Appetizer Bowl. Fill another Mini Square Appetizer Bowl with a combination of pink and blue pastel pacifier favors.
Finally, set up the voting station by placing the "girl" and "boy" mailboxes atop a White Candle Holder Set placed on your painted sign. Add the voting cards and pacifiers and encourage guests to write their name onto a card, and then tie a pacifier onto the card to coordinate with their guesses as to the baby's gender. Guests will then add their guesses to the appropriate mailbox. Guests who guess correctly will win a prize after the gender is revealed during the Valentine's Day Gender Reveal Balloon Pop Game!
