Start by downloading the Rain Drops Printable Template here to begin the DIY Rain Costume. Cut out rain drops from the blue, light blue and white foam sheets. If you have a Cricut machine you can also use that to cut out the raindrops a lot faster! I ended up cutting 2 sheets of each color for our rain cloud.
Use a sharp needle to poke a hole through the top of each rain drop. Tie a piece of clear fishing line through each hole. You will want to vary the length of each piece of string to make it look like raindrops falling.
Attach the opposite end of the fishing line to the umbrella. Make sure you tie them to both the inside and outside points of the umbrella. Hold up the umbrellas as you go to make sure your raindrops are falling and varied heights.
Use a hot glue gun to add white cotton batting to the outside edge of the umbrella to finish off your fluffy white rain cloud. Have the child wear black pants, a blue shirt, rain coat and rainboots to complete the look.
Start making the sun costume by wrapping yellow grossgrain ribbon around the black headband.
Download and print the Free Sun Costume Printable Template here to begin this DIY costume. Cut out 5 large triangles on the light yellow felt and cut out 5 smaller triangles from the Cricut felt. Center the smaller felt triangle in the middle of the larger one and glue the pieces together with a hot glue gun.
Start at the bottom left side of the headband and fold a triangle piece over the headband. Use hot glue to secure it in place. Repeat the step adding another triangle to the center and then one to the right side of the headband.
Next, fold over and glue the two remaining triangles together and then glue them to the back of the other triangles.
Put the child in a yellow shirt, add the DIY Sun Headband and give them a yellow balloon to complete this bright and fun Halloween costume.
Draw a large rainbow on a piece of white poster board, foam board or cardboard for the DIY Rainbow Costume. Paint each section of the rainbow with the red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple craft paint. Let the paint dry and then cut out the rainbow with scissors or a craft knife depending on the material you used.
Blow up a bunch of white balloons for your clouds. Remember to vary the size and keep them relatively small so they don't cover up too much of the rainbow or get in the way. Use double stick tape to carefully attach the balloons to the rainbow.
Punch a hole in the top corner of each side of the rainbow. Measure a length of Red Baker's Twine to fit around your child, so that the rainbow will hang around their midsection. Tie the twine to each side, make sure that your child can easily slip the rainbow over their head to put it on and remove it.
Put your child in a white shirt and hang the rainbow over their neck and get ready for a colorful Halloween.
