Animal Craft Projects

Fall is the perfect season for animal craft projects, especially when creating forest animals! Ella and Annie wanted to use the same concept we came up with for the Halloween paper plate masks and create woodland forest animal masks for fall.

I love the simplicity of this animal craft for kids. You most likely have what you need at home. Let your kiddos create their favorite forest animals and later act them out for each other!

What You'll Need:

For Each Mask Start By:

Step 1:

Cut the paper plates in half. One plate makes two masks.

Step 2:

Using the 1" circle punch to punch two holes for the eyes.

The Deer Mask

Color the bottom side of the plate (doesn't have the gloss finish) brown using a crayon. Cut a small black triangle from black construction paper with rounded edges. Cut two large brown triangles and two small pink triangles for the deer's ears.

Glue the smaller pink triangles on the inside of the larger brown triangles. Glue the ears to the top of the plate. Using the 2" scallop circle punch, punch two scallop circles. Take the 1" circle punch and punch a 1" circle in each 2" scallop circle.

Glue the scalloped circles over each of the eye holes in the paper plate. Glue on the black triangle nose. With the white pen, draw three small white circles in between the eyes. Print the antler template and trace antlers onto black construction paper. Glue the antlers onto the backside of the plate behind the ears.

Hot glue the paper straw to the backside of the plate.

The Fox Mask

Start with the mask base (plate cut in half with two eye holes). Using an orange crayon draw an upside down triangle. Color in the triangle with the orange crayon. Color the remainder of the fox's face a peach color.

Cut a 1" black circle for the nose. Cut six small strips of black paper for the whiskers. Glue both the nose and whiskers on the fox. Cut two large orange triangles and two smaller white triangles for the ears. Glue the white triangles onto the larger orange ones. Glue both ears onto the fox.

Hot glue a paper straw to the back of the paper plate.

The Bunny Mask

This mask is super easy! Leave the paper plate white. Cut six small strips of white paper. Glue three strips on each side under the eye holes to make the bunny whiskers. Cut a 1" pink circle with the punch. Glue the pink circle on the plate for the bunnies nose. Add some white glue to the nose and sprinkle on some pink glitter. Shake off the excess glitter.

Print and cut out the bunny ears. Glue the two smaller ears to the inside of the larger two white ears. Glue one ear onto each side of the paper plate. Hot glue the paper straw to the back of the plate.

The Bear Mask

Simply color the mask brown. Glue a black 1" circle on the bears face for the nose. Cut two large brown ears and two smaller white ears. Glue the white ears onto the brown ears. Glue both ears onto the paper plate bear. With hot glue attach the paper straw to the back of the paper plate.

We had such a blast making this animal craft project. What are some of your favorite fall crafts?
