The end of the year is a great time to reflect on all the wonderful events and milestones of the past school year. This display is a bright and colorful send off with a summer theme! The students also get to do their part by sharing their own memory on a cute ice pop craft that they get to make! Make sure to download the free printable that goes with this board as well.
To start, measure out the space you'll be covering. I used Fadeless White Shiplap Bulletin Board Paper because the color is neutral and eye catching. The colors never fade and I often reuse it. I also used Better Than Paper Mounting Tape to keep it secure on the wall so I wouldn't have to use a stapler.
Add some depth and dimension with a double border. I used the double-sided rainbow borders. I liked the polka-dot side a bit more because the white was a nice balance. I then used Schoolgirl Style Rainbow Borders. I love how chunky and bright they are! They also have a great scalloped edge.
Next, I added in all the decorative pieces. I used ice pop plates to go with the theme. I also inflated two ice pop mylar balloons and used the same tape that I used to stick my paper to the wall. Another fun decoration I used was the Fiesta Accordion Fold Paper Garland. This gave it some extra color and a different texture!
I used the Bright Classroom Bulletin Board Numbers and Letters to spell out "This Year was Sweet!" I used glue dots to place them on the wall. The pack has a ton of letter and number options so you could really write whatever phrase needed with just one pack! They are also able to be reused because they are so sturdy.
Here's where the students come in! Have students fill out the ice pop sheet by writing out their "sweetest" memory from the last school year. Then, have the students glue a wooden stick to it. I used the glue dots again to stick them to the wall. I also had the students assemble an ice pop from the Ice Pop Garland Craft Kit. It was easy to do and a fun, colorful touch.
