Creating one of a kind artwork for your parties is made extra special when it also doubles as nursery décor for the mama bear you're showering! This sweet sign looks so beary cute hanging as a focal point above our dessert table. I can only imagine how unbearably cute it would look hanging in a newborn cub's room! The first step in creating your beary cute sign is to lightly paint a DIY Wooden Plank Sign with White Acrylic Paint. I used a dry brush technique so some of the wood grain would show through. Simply dip the tip of your foam paintbrush in the white paint then tap it on a paper towel to remove some of the excess paint. Brush the paint onto the sign in long strokes, going over the paint until the brush has run dry. I used another paper towel to wipe off the paint in areas where it was a little too thick for my liking.
Download the free You Are Beary Loved Printable while the paint is drying on your sign. Don't forget to cut out the mama and baby bears as well. Lay them on top of a piece of burlap fabric and trace around them. Carefully cut them out so the ends of the fabric do not fray too much.
After the sign has dried, lay the You Are Beary Loved wording on top of your sign to determine the placement. Next, turn the paper over to the back. Using a pencil, rub over the letters on the back of the paper.
Once all the letters are covered, trim the paper so you have a better idea of the area the words will cover. Center the words on the sign, and then secure the paper to the sign using washi tape. Pressing moderately hard, trace around the outside edges of each printed letter on the paper. This will transfer the words onto the sign.
Using a color of paint to your liking, I used a mix of white and the pink from the Tropical Acrylic Paint Set, choose a fine-tipped paintbrush and paint each letter.
After the paint has dried, adhere the mama and baby bears to the bottom of the sign using hot glue. To add an extra feminine touch, I snipped a few flowers and leaves from a faux baby's breath branch and gave each of the bears a floral "crown".
Display your sign as baby shower décor, then surprise the mama-to-be by sending it home with her!
