It’s easier than it looks; using boxed cake mixes and our simple to follow instructions, you’ll be King of the Jungle, or at least the kitchen, with this delicious Zebra Striped Cake.
- 1 Box Devils Food Cake Mix
- 1 Box White Cake Mix
- 1/3 c. and 1/4 c. Vegetable Oil, Separated
- 3 Whole Eggs
- 4 Egg Whites
- 2 c. Water, Separated Equally
- 1 Can Buttercream Frosting, White
- Chocolate Sprinkles
Spray two 8" cake pans with baking spray and set aside.
Prepare Devil's Food cake mix according to box instructions. Pour into a bowl and set aside.
Prepare white cake mix according to box instructions.
Using a 1/2 cup capacity ladle, spoon a ladle full of white cake mix into the center of the prepared cake pan.
Using the other 1/2 cup ladle, spoon a ladle full of chocolate cake mix directly into the center of the pan, over the white cake mix.
Repeat these steps, alternating colors of cake mix, until the cake pan is roughly 1/2 filled with cake mix. Repeat from Step One with the second pan.
Transfer the pans to the preheated oven, and bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
Cake is ready when a toothpick inserted into the center can be cleanly removed. Allow to cool thoroughly, then frost one cake with the buttercream icing.
Top with the other cake, and frost both cakes until fully covered.
Enjoy the cheers of the party animals when you slice into this cake, as the Zebra Stripes are revealed!
