Make your love for Valentine’s Day really stand out with this DIY Valentine’s Day Garland. Whether you decorate a doorway, wall or mantle, this wood garland helps share the Valentine's Day love.
Paint 6 DIY Unfinished Wood Banner Squares with a rounded square of white acrylic paint and 1 with a light blue rounded square. Allow time for the paint to fully dry.
Making the buffalo plaid is super easy. We use washi tape to make painting the perfect lines a breeze. First, we need to take some, not all, of the sticky off of the washi tape. To do this, simply place the tape on your shirt or pants and remove it. This will make the tape a little less sticky. Next, apply the washi tape to a white painted wood square. Apply another piece of washi tape directly beside the first one. This piece will serve as a guide for spacing the tape exactly the same width all the way across the banner square. Place another piece of washi next to the second one and then remove the second piece of washi tape. Continue this across the entire banner square, reusing the second piece of washi.
Mix two different colors of gray paint by adding 1 and 2 drops of black acrylic paint to white paint. Use a flat-bristled paintbrush to paint the lightest color gray paint in between the tape. Allow time for the paint to dry and remove the washi tape.
Repeat steps 2 & 3, but with the tape going in the opposite direction.
To make the black squares easier to fill in, simply use a black permanent marker to trace and fill in all of the overlapping squares.
Paint 7 DIY Unfinished Wood Heart Ornaments with acrylic paint and a flat-bristled paintbrush.
Using acrylic paint and a flat-bristled paintbrush, paint the top of Chipboard Multicolor Alphabet Stickers to spell out ‘BE MINE’ and stick each of them onto a painted wood heart.
Apply a Velcro™ dot to the middle of the wood banners and to the back of the wood hearts.
Use hot glue to adhere white or pink wool pom-poms to the bottom of the wood banners.
All there is left to do is string the wood banner onto a piece of jute cording and hang it up!
