The story of the Happiest Day of Your Life begins when your guests arrive and take their seats, with the help of this cleverly crafted seating chart. Each table has been named a "Chapter" in your lives, and instead of text content, the names of your guests are written out on the pages of these pretty novelettes. Nestled in a bed of moss in a wooden frame, this Book Themed Seating Chart is a perfect accent for literary and word loving couples as they celebrate their wedding day.
Measure and trim the folded paper so that it measures 3 inches by 3.5
Use the sheet you have cut as a template to create a small stack of sheets, about 30 or so will do. Fold them in the center as shown in the image.
Tie the stack of trimmed paper together with a length of string or twine and knot securely. The color of the string is not important, as it will not show in the final step.
Open one of the trimmed sheets, use a wide point pen to write "Chapter" and the table number you wish to assign. On the right side of the "book pages", use a fine point pen to hand letter the names of the guests who will be seated at that table. The finished look is straight out of a book!
Glue the center "spine" of your written page to the string on the bundle and allow to set. Gently push the left side in just a bit and glue in place. This will allow you to achieve the look of the book page curling up slightly. Repeat this on the right side and allow to dry. Curl the edges of the book pages using a narrow object like a chopstick, if you wish.
Repeat steps one through six for each table that you would like to include for your wedding reception. When making your seating arrangement list, keep in mind the various groups of friends and family who should be seated together, as well as seating options for young children and elderly guests.
While your books are drying, roll out a moss table runner onto a wood framed wire sign. Trim the moss where it meets the edge of the wire. As you can see, the width of the moss just happens to fit the frame perfectly!
Carefully hold the moss runner in place and flip the frame so that the reverse is showing with the wire. Use hot glue to adhere several sheets of the brown paper to the back of the frame, to the moss. Use a generous amount of glue taking care not to get any on yourself! Once dry, the paper should securely hold the moss to the frame, even when held vertically. If it doesn't, add more glue and try again.
Carefully turn the frame back over and arrange the now dry books onto the frame in an arrangement that is pleasing to your eye.
Apply a generous amount of hot glue to the back of the book and press to adhere to the moss runner. Repeat on the opposite side of the book.
At this point some pages of the books may begin to lift or separate. Not to worry, just a touch of hot glue between pages here and there is plenty to secure the project in place.
The finished seating chart can be displayed on a chair, in an easel, or hung on the wall. Guests will appreciate a little extra direction by way of a distressed chalkboard easel bearing the instructions, "Please find your seat" written with a chalk pen. A nearby stack of book echoes the unique literary theme.
