If you are going to plan an epic summer party you are going to need some equally epic entertainment! This summer we are making memories and enjoying friends with one of our favorite summer traditions; a Summer Seafood Boil. You can’t have a crawfish boil without the quintessential southern game of cornhole. This year, I thought it would be fun to make a themed DIY Crawfish Boil Cornhole game just for the kids.

To start, use the painter’s tape to tape off the border on both sides of the board.

Spray paint one side of the board with your favorite color. Let the paint dry completely and then flip the board over and spray paint the other side.

Once the paint is completely dry, remove the painter’s tape and touch up any areas that need attention.

I customized the cornhole game board by cutting out a vinyl sticker that says “Let’s get Cray” and a crawfish on my Cricut Explore Air 2. If you don’t have a cutting machine you can use the alphabet stencil or stickers to customize the game board.

Flip the board over and customize the tic-tac-toe board. I decided to play up the crawfish in our summer seafood boil and made a “Heads or Tails” vinyl sticker for this side of the board. I had some extra space so I added another vinyl crawfish.

While the board makeover looked great at this point, I felt like it still needed something. I added a rope border around the edge of each side. I love how this incorporated perfectly with all of our other rustic party details.

Now it’s time to focus on the playing pieces. To keep with the heads or tails theme I used the alphabet stencil to paint “H” and “T’s” on the bean bags.

To make things even more interesting I cut out some little crawfish in iron-on vinyl and ironed them on two of the bean bags. These special bean bags are worth bonus points if you sink them in the hole. So fun, right!?

Our kids sure had a blast playing this game and seeing who could get the special crawfish bean bag in the hole first. It truly kept them entertained for a while. This colorful new game will keep everyone, young and old, entertained at your Summer Seafood Boil. Don’t miss out on the rest of the party posts including DIY Burlap Utensil Holders, Mason Jar Lanterns, a Cracker and Crawfish Dip recipe and a special Iced-Tea Punch recipe.
