I wanted an eye-catching backdrop for my "Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend" Bridal Shower so I created an oversize geometric diamond shape using a mosaic technique and a variety of assorted wood diamond shapes. This is an inexpensive project that is simple to create. Follow my grid color-blocking pattern and make it your own by layering in different colors, jewels, glitter or even flowers. By the time you are finished, you will have a fabulous dimensional backdrop that's perfect for your celebration.
Take a selection of DIY Unfinished Wood Diamond Assortment and paint a variety of colors. I used bright pink, light pink, yellow and metallic gold.
Once the paint is dry add glam accents to some of the wood cut-outs. Add a piece of adhesive tape to a selection of painted diamonds, then cut a small piece of jewel effect roll and add to the wood.
Glitter is another fun accent to add to some of the wood cut-outs. Use a glue stick and then sprinkle glitter onto the glue. Alternatively, use a glitter glue.
Next, add a small piece of mounting putty (or alternatively use glue dots) to attach the decorated diamond wood shapes to the wall.
Block different colors of diamond shapes into larger diamonds. Add more diamond shapes to the pattern until one large diamond is created. Tip: Lay the design out on the floor first before attaching to the wall.
Your DIY Diamond Mosaic Backdrop is now complete. This will look absolutely stunning above your dessert table.
Finally, add another glam and modern accent with my DIY Watercolor Love Letter Centerpiece and add to your tasty treats with my Easy Gemstone Chocolate Cupcake Toppers.
