Did you know you can transform inexpensive plastic Easter eggs into beautiful spring flowers in just a few simple steps? When arranged in a vase or mason jar they look like a bouquet of colorful tulips! I made a couple arrangements to use as Easter centerpieces for our Peanuts® Easter Party, but they would be a pretty spring decor addition to a mantel or kitchen table as well. Unlike real flowers, they will look good for many years to come!
For the Tulip Egg Flowers, use long stems of floral wire and cut them in half with a wire cutter. Then take a piece of floral wire and thread the first couple inches through the holes of the bottom (wide part) of the Easter egg.
Once threaded through the holes, wrap the wire around itself and cover with floral tape. To use floral tape, pull taut while wrapping around the stem. The tape will stick to itself.
Cut two leaves from the double-sided crepe paper and add them to the stem by wrapping another piece of floral tape tightly around them.
For the Daisy Egg Flowers, if you are using long stems of floral wire, cut them in half with a wire cutter.
To create your own flower petals, cut 1/2″ to 3/4″ petal shapes from a sheet of foam. Once the petals are cut, slightly round the straight edge of each petal. This will help the petals fit nicely around the egg. Next, carefully glue the flower petals around the egg with a hot glue gun.
Tip: It is easiest to cut the petal shapes from the edge of the foam sheet.
Stick the end of the floral wire into the hot glue and wrap the foam around the stem, pinching in place until the glue dries.
Add leaves using the same method as described above for the tulip flowers.
Combine a mix of tulip and daisy flowers in a vase or mason jar for a colorful arrangement! If needed, use a floral frog or floral foam in the bottom of the vase to hold the egg flowers in place. Now you have a beautiful Easter egg flower centerpiece that’s perfect for any Easter or spring decor.
