When we set out to create a magical Mystical Mermaid Party we knew we wanted to create a unique backdrop and dessert display to transport our guests to the beach and under the sea! With our simple tips and tricks you can create this ethereal setting at home for a splashing good time!
Create your backdrop! We love the versatility of any tablecloth roll, and this mermaid roll is no exception! For our party table, we used it as a table runner, but for this mermaid-inspired DIY, trim two six foot sections of the table cloth roll and secure the pieces to the wall with a bit of tape.
Use the letters arranged on the plates to add a touch of personalization to your party backdrop. The great thing about these adhesive stickers is that if you place them in the wrong location, they peel right back off for perfect placement. Once the letters are arranged, adhere them to the table cloth roll backdrop with some additional tape.
Include an extra dose of color by draping the table in a teal lagoon tablecloth topped with fish netting.
Build out the treasure chest! We wanted it to feel like our pirate's chest was brimming with gold and jewels! Start by placing an empty box (styrofoam, packing peanuts) into the base of the chest. This will make it seem as though your chest is more full than it really is. Start topping the filler with colored coins. We loved incorporating coins that coordinated with our color pattern for a fun, girly look!
Add some additional glitz to the treasure chest by draping faux pearl necklaces over the corners of the box.
Add a little extra mermaid detailing by adhering a scratch mermaid and some glittering bubbles to the front of the treasure chest.
Fill the DIY trays up with color-coordinating clam shells and pedestal cake plates.

Don't forget the details! We placed several shells and starfish throughout our table to give off even more of an under the sea feel!
